Rex Ryan called Ashton Jeanty a 3.1 yards-per-carry player on national television this week. The former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst used the phrase "You stink" to describe the Las Vegas Raiders running back. Ryan said he would walk up to Jeanty and deliver a blunt assessment of his draft value. He identified Jeanty as "about the worst draft pick in 20 years as a Running Back." When asked if he would really say that to the player's face, Ryan confirmed he would go right up to him.

Jeanty, who entered the NFL as Boise State's highest-ever draft selection at No. 6 overall, faced the criticism after a weekend game. His production in that matchup did not match his college statistics. The Raiders gave the ball to their backup running back 25 times. Jeanty received just two carries and gained nine yards. Ryan described Jeanty as "soft as Charmin" while reviewing game footage on the broadcast.

The comments come shortly after Kellen Moore returned to Boise for a statue unveiling. Moore, the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, is considered the most iconic player in Boise State history. He remains the winningest quarterback in college football. The statue ceremony took place at halftime in front of a large crowd. Moore's return brought renewed attention to the Broncos' recent NFL prospects.

Jeanty is one of the most recent high-profile players from the Boise State program. His transition to the professional level has drawn mixed reactions from fans. The contrast between his college performance and his NFL output has fueled online discussion. Ryan's specific criticism of Jeanty's average yards per carry highlighted the gap in expectations. The former coach's direct language sparked immediate debate among fans and analysts alike.
