Boise State women's basketball started its season with an 84-48 victory over Bushnell on Monday morning. The Broncos played at home and established a lead that never came back. The final score reflected a 36-point margin, a result that sets the tone for the team's early schedule.

CJ Latta led the scoring with 21 points. She made seven of her eight three-point attempts. Her shooting helped the team connect on 11 shots from beyond the arc. Latta, who is from the local area, noted the importance of returning to her hometown court. "I felt very confident out there with my teammates," Latta said. "We love to share the ball with each other, that's the reason we scored 84 tonight." The team's ball movement was a central theme in the offense.

Rebounding and defense drove the game's outcome. Boise State secured 23 offensive rebounds, which created extra scoring chances. The team forced 26 turnovers from the opposing squad. These defensive stops allowed the Broncos to control the pace. Mason Borcherding contributed after grabbing offensive boards in the first quarter. Kenna Garza added a late layup before the halftime break. The team took a 38-21 lead into the second half.

The Broncos extended their advantage in the second half. They started the third quarter with a 14-0 run. This streak increased the gap to 14 points. Latta hit four three-pointers in that period. Keirra Thompson recorded three steals during the quarter. The team held Bushnell without points for a four-minute stretch. The margin reached 33 points before the final quarter began. Boise State led 63-33 heading into the last ten minutes.

The fourth quarter saw continued dominance on the boards. The Broncos grabbed 16 rebounds in the frame, including seven offensive ones. They committed only one turnover in the entire quarter. Izzie Harms and Milly Sharp scored late in the game to maintain the lead. Head coach Gordy Presnell praised Latta's performance, particularly her shooting when the team's rhythm was uneven. "She did a very nice job for us when we weren't hitting that well," Presnell said. The team will look to build on this win as it prepares for its next matchup.

Boise State will play Portland State on Friday, Nov. 6. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at home. The Broncos enter this contest with a 1-0 record. The upcoming game offers a test against a different opponent in the same league.
