Eagle, Idaho. Costco has withdrawn its application to build a new warehouse in the city. The planned site sat at the intersection of Highway 55 and Hill Road. Residents who rely on the nearby store in South Meridian will not see a second location there in the immediate future.
Laura Williams, the public information officer for the City of Eagle, confirmed the decision on Monday morning. She stated that the company will not pursue that specific location for now. Williams noted that Costco has not shared any other future plans for the Eagle area with city staff.
The withdrawal ends weeks of discussion on social media. In August, local reports indicated the project was on hold. At that time, the city was waiting for Costco to request a date for a public hearing. The delay had left neighbors unsure of the timeline.
Costco is currently focusing on its newest store in South Meridian. That location is scheduled to open on November 5. It is designed to be one of the largest Costco facilities globally by square footage. The size includes a back-of-house fulfillment center that helps deliver large orders to customers.
The company follows a standard protocol for announcing new sites. Costco typically does not comment on future warehouses until two to three months before a location opens. The Eagle site remains available, but the retailer has no current announcement for it.
