The 75th annual Ski Swap opened Friday at Expo Idaho, offering shoppers discounted prices on new and lightly used snow gear. The four day event runs through Sunday, November 1.
The Bogus Basin Ski Education Foundation hosts the swap to raise funds for its youth competitive mountain sports programs. The organization takes a 25 percent commission on each item sold. Sellers receive a mailed check for the remaining 75 percent of the sale price.
The swap accepts skis, snowboards, Nordic and telemark gear, boots, clothing, and snowshoes. Items must be old and lightly used. Sellers can drop off or register their equipment for the sale. The swap will not accept sunglasses, baseball hats, tee shirts, or street shoes.
Admission on Friday and Saturday costs $5 for visitors age 13 and older. Sunday entry is free with a donation of two canned food items for the Boise Rescue Mission. Without a donation, Sunday admission costs $5.
Hours for Friday are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event closes at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The venue accepts VISA, MasterCard, and Discover cards for purchases.
Shoppers can browse inventory for the rest of the weekend. The event serves as one of the foundation's primary fundraisers for local winter sports programs.
