Boise Parks and Recreation will reopen three parks for off-leash dog access beginning next month.

The city announced the schedule for the seasonal program on October 30, 2026. Officials noted that the timing aligns with the end of the fall sports season, which frees up space for pets to exercise.

The program operates at three specific sites with different start dates. Ann Morrison Park and the Optimist Youth Sports Complex will open for off-leash use on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The Simplot Sports Complex will open one week later on Monday, November 16, 2026. All three locations will remain open through February 28, 2027.

Dogs may roam without leashes from sunrise to sunset in all areas of these parks, excluding the Boise River Greenbelt paths, parking lots, roads, and playgrounds. At Ann Morrison Park, the Together Treasure Valley Dog Island area stays open year-round, though officials advise caution as pond water levels drop for winter. Warning signs mark the ponds, and owners are asked to keep pets off the ice.

Owners must pick up after their animals to maintain park cleanliness. The city also recommends that residents obtain or renew animal licenses for their dogs during this period. Details about off-leash opportunities are available on the City of Boise website.
