The Milwaukee Brewers took a commanding 3-0 lead in the World Series after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night. Robert Gasser anchored the pitching effort for Milwaukee, while the lineup produced enough runs to make the contest a formality in the late innings. The victory sets up a decisive Game 4 on Tuesday night, where the Brewers can secure their first championship in franchise history.
Neither team has ever won a World Series title. The Brewers last appeared in the Fall Classic in 1982, while the Rays have only reached the World Series twice before, including a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. This matchup guarantees that the winner will be a first-time champion.
The Rays earned their spot in the World Series by defeating the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series. Junior Caminero hit a home run in Game 6 that helped Tampa Bay secure the pennant. In the National League, the Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games to claim their division.
The series has been dominated by Milwaukee. They won Game 1 by a score of 3-2 and Game 2 by a score of 5-4. The 10-1 margin of victory in Game 3 widened their lead in the best-of-seven series. The Rays now face an uphill battle, needing to win the next four games in a row to force a Game 7.
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The game will be played in Tampa Bay and will be broadcast on Fox, Fox Deportes, and fubo. If the series continues, Game 5 will also take place in Tampa Bay on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will move to Milwaukee. Game 6 is set for Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern time, with Game 7 following on Saturday at the same time. All remaining games in the series will air on the same network combination as the current game.
The Brewers have won three straight games in this series. Their previous World Series appearance was in 1982, a gap of 44 years. The Rays' last World Series appearance was in 2020, and they have never won a title in their three prior attempts. The outcome of Tuesday's game will determine if the series goes to a fifth game or if Milwaukee wins the championship.
