Boise State University football has secured bowl eligibility for the 2026 season after defeating Washington State 31-10 on the road this past weekend. The victory marks the 29th consecutive season in which the Broncos have qualified for a post-season game. This streak places Boise State as having the second-longest run of consecutive bowl-eligible seasons in the nation.

The team entered the Washington State game ranked 21st in the AP Poll. The win moved Boise State up to No. 20 in the national rankings. The Broncos are in their first season as members of the Pac-12 conference. Their current record stands at 6-1 for the 2026 campaign.

The sole loss of the season occurred in the opening game of the year against the University of Oregon. Since that initial defeat, Boise State has won six straight contests. The team has maintained its standing near the top of the AP rankings throughout this winning stretch.

Boise State’s bowl history includes notable victories, such as the 2007 Fiesta Bowl win against Oklahoma. That game remains a frequently cited moment in college football history. The program continues to build on that legacy with its current postseason qualification.

Supporters expressed enthusiasm for the achievement while also setting higher expectations for the remainder of the year. An Instagram user identified as chosenpslms25 commented on the news, stating, "Thats Kool, but we want the Championship." The team will continue its schedule this week as it looks to maintain its current ranking.

The 29th consecutive year of bowl eligibility is a record for the program. The streak began in the 1998 season and has continued through the 2026 campaign without interruption. The next step in the season involves the remaining scheduled games in the Pac-12 conference.
