Natural Grocers is planning a store at District 208, the Nampa shopping center formerly known as Karcher Shopping Mall, according to records filed with the City of Nampa. The address listed in the permit file is 1509 Caldwell Blvd. Mayor Darl Bruner said during his State of the City Address on Oct. 22 that a grocery store was planned for District 208, with an announcement expected toward the end of the year.
Permit records describe shell improvements for a Natural Grocers, including interior demolition, overbuild, new HVAC, and utility work "to coordinate w/ future tenant demand." The file states that a certificate of occupancy would come through a separate tenant improvement application. The application status reads "corrections pending." The City of Nampa did not answer which space the store would occupy, and the permit file does not specify a location within District 208.
Natural Grocers is based in Lakewood, Colorado, and sells organic produce, dairy, meat, seafood, and other items. The company operates four stores in Idaho, including one in Boise, and more than 170 stores across 22 states. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment about what the Nampa store would carry.
District 208 has operated as a shopping destination in Nampa for years under its former name, Karcher Shopping Mall. City records list the work at 1509 Caldwell Blvd.
