Elizabeth Diavila, a single mother of four young girls, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover medical bills and lost wages following a severe car accident. The fundraising page reports that she needs months of rehabilitation that her current health insurance plan does not fully cover. Diavila remains in the hospital and has not yet returned to work to support her family.

The crash occurred on October 16. Diavila was struck head-on by another motorist who was driving the wrong way. She sustained multiple fractured vertebrae and serious injuries to her lower leg, according to the GoFundMe description. Her injuries required her to stay in the intensive care unit of a Boise hospital for nearly a week.

The fundraising goal is set at $50,000. The campaign has raised close to $30,000 from donors so far. The remaining funds are intended to help the family manage expenses while Diavila undergoes a long recovery period.

Diavila’s four children are at home while she continues treatment. The GoFundMe page asks for financial assistance to help the family get through the rehabilitation process. Donors can contribute directly through the online platform.

Diavila is still in the hospital as of this week. The next step in her recovery involves a prolonged period of physical therapy and medical care. The campaign remains open to collect additional donations until the $50,000 goal is met.
