A British comedy about a haunted house has claimed the top spot in the U.K. and Ireland box office.

Lionsgate U.K. released "Ghosts: The Possession of Button House" on Friday. The film collected £2.4 million, or $3.2 million, during its opening three-day period. This total placed it first in the regional charts.

Warner Bros. launched its DC horror thriller "Clayface" the same weekend. The film opened in second position with $2.6 million. Amazon MGM Studios placed third with its comedy "Ali G: Who Iz I?", which generated $1.7 million in its debut session. Black Bear's animated fantasy "Wildwood," directed by Travis Knight, took fourth place with $1.36 million.

Paramount's "Street Fighter" moved to fifth in its second week. The film added $1.35 million to bring its cumulative total to $5.6 million. Universal's "Forgotten Island" ranked sixth in its second weekend, collecting $1.2 million for a total of $3.7 million. Sony's "Verity" followed in seventh, adding $857,067 in its fourth frame for a running total of $14.4 million.

Universal's "Other Mommy" placed eighth in its third session with $576,822, bringing its gross to $6.2 million. Mubi's "Fatherland" debuted at number nine. The drama generated $264,083 from 86 locations over the three-day frame. Including preview screenings, the total opening reached $415,017. This figure surpasses "Cold War" to mark director Paweł Pawlikowski's biggest-ever launch in the territory. Studiocanal's "Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom" rounded out the top ten in its sixth frame with $408,089.

Mubi also opened the documentary "Making Marie Antoinette" across six sites. The film took $1,737 over the weekend for a cume of $24,355. This limited platform release precedes the expansion to additional cinemas ahead of Park Circus' re-release of Sofia Coppola's 2006 feature on Nov. 13.

Mid-week event programming begins on Tuesday with Trafalgar Releasing's broadcast of the Royal Ballet's "Manon". On Wednesday, the music documentary "Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning" arrives across more than 100 locations. Disney's "Everest: The Other Side" leads wide commercial rollouts on Friday across 300+ locations. A24's "Primetime" and Black Bear's "Wicker" also open on Friday.

Other Friday releases include Universal's "I Love Boosters" and Action Xtreme's "Bad Day at the Office". The weekend wraps on Saturday with Trafalgar Releasing's event cinema presentation of "BTS World Tour 'Arirang' in Sao Paulo: Live Viewing".
