Kandice Gunter was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Sunday morning. First responders found her gray 2016 GMC Canyon pickup truck down a steep hillside near Lookout Point on Wyoming Highway 251 at approximately 9:20 a.m. The Natrona County Coroner’s Office identified Gunter, 30, as the sole occupant.
Gunter had been reported missing to the Casper Police Department on Thursday evening. Investigators last tracked her phone on Friday afternoon near the Natrona County line along Wyoming Highway 387. A public search for Gunter and her vehicle continued for three days before her car was located on the mountain road.
The impact caused the vehicle to break through a guardrail, sending it down the slope. Recovery crews worked on the steep terrain, forcing authorities to reduce traffic on the mountain road to a single lane during the Sunday morning incident. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Casper Police Department, Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Casper Fire-EMS, and the Natrona County Fire Protection District.
Casper Police Department officials stated that the cause of death and the specific circumstances of the wreck remain under investigation. The department noted that there is no evidence suggesting foul play or the involvement of another person in the crash. Investigators are continuing to analyze the scene to determine how the vehicle left the roadway.
