A complex low-pressure system will deliver 2 to 3 inches of rain to the central and southern areas of the region by Tuesday night. This total is projected to be significantly higher in the south, specifically south of Highway 200, where the heaviest steady rain is expected to push in between mid-morning Monday and late evening. Lighter amounts are anticipated for northern areas, though wraparound showers may linger in northwest Minnesota well into Wednesday morning.

Wind conditions will accompany the rain, with gusts reaching 25 to 35 mph between Monday and Tuesday. These winds will shift direction Monday night, dragging cooler air into the region and causing temperatures to fall from the 50s to the 40s. Monday is expected to be the warmest day of the workweek, with high temperatures in the 50s kept stable by cloud cover and strong winds.

The weather pattern will impact voting conditions on Tuesday, which is Election Day. Scattered showers and wind are forecast for the day, with a high of 48 degrees and a low of 44. The rain that began lifting from the southwest Sunday night will provide steady soaking rain through the day, while the wind gusts may reach 30 mph or more.

The system will move out of the region by Wednesday, leaving behind a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Temperatures will continue to cool, with lows in the 30s and highs in the 40s for the remainder of the week. Dry, rain-free weather is expected after the initial showers, and some areas may see highs return to the 50s by the weekend.

Sunday provided a mild and cloudy start to the week, following a foggy morning. The transition to the wet and windy pattern begins Sunday night, with overnight rain and southeast winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts to 25. The low temperature for Sunday night is 54 degrees.

Model guidance suggests measurable rain and strong winds that could affect Election Day activities. The forecast indicates a shift from the current mild pattern to a cooler, active weather system for the first half of the week, ending the first week of November with a dry period.
